I am a failure. I have failed as a daughter. I failed as a wife. I failed as a mother. I failed as a friend. The list runs several feet deep.
Even with the long list of setbacks associated with my name, my value never changed. My value as a daughter, wife, mother, etc., remains the same regardless of my past regrets, just like a penny that was crushed under a vehicle a dozen times. It may be dented, scratched, and dirty, but the penny never lost its value. It's still worth the same-one cent.
So many times, we see failure as a litmus test for our value, which is 1000 % incorrect. Yes, we may have fallen short, sinned, and made terrible choices, but our value and purpose remain unchanged. Back to the penny analogy, a coin is found on the floor of a very well-used portajohn (eew!), but the penny's purpose never changed - a part of our US currency.
Here are my two cents ☺: Regardless of how colorful or dark your history may be, your value and purpose are unaffected. Don't allow guilt, shame, or the disappointments of your past to guide your future. If you haven't already, I encourage you to invite the Holy Spirit to be the Guide to lead you forward.
