I have been on a health journey for the last few years. It started with intermittent fasting. Sixteen hours of abstaining from food except for drinks like lemon water, coffee, or tea. And then 8 hours of food. I'm not on a rigid schedule, but I try to keep the 16-off and 8-on approach. So far, it has worked for me. I feel lighter on my feet. My mind is less sluggish, and my body feels healthier. Around that time, I also started taking exercise more seriously. I try to exercise for at least 45 minutes a day and at least five times a week, it could be plus or minus a day. I used to watch YouTube videos, but now I use what I have learned from the "experts" to create my style, including weights. I have asked my oldest son for tips for certain parts of my body for extra toning. I borrowed heavier weights from my daughter to build muscle. My youngest son always invites me to go on walks for exercise. And my husband tries to make me meals that fit my lifestyle. The reasons for this journey were for my health, vanity, and future grandchildren (to be physically able to keep up with all 15 of them). I asked my three to each have five so my husband and I can have fifteen grandkids. ☺ My kids are trying to change my mind, but I'm not giving up. ☺ Yes, I love babies, but there are 15 more people for Jesus. ☺
Anyway, when I heard this clip, it made me take my health, especially food consumption, more seriously.
How cunning of the enemy to use food to kill, steal, and destroy us. But it's no surprise because he has used food since the beginning of time.
There are many resources available but I recently found these helpful:
Dr. Michael Brown wrote, Breaking the Stronghold of Food. He shares about his health and what he did to use food for him instead of against him. Dr. Josh Axe provides a wealth of information on his website, www.ancientnutrition.com. Both of these doctors had health issues and are living proof of what it looks like when you take charge of what you allow into the temple of your bodies.
If you're not being discerning and strategic about your food choices, consider this post a wake-up call. It's crucial to take control of your health and make informed decisions about what you eat. Your health is in your hands, and it's never too late to start making healthier choices.
We need to be healthy and robust to fight as a mighty man. To be able to fight in the battle, we need to be healthy not just spiritually but also naturally.
We should try our best to keep the hospitals empty. When I'm at work, 80% of the time, when I sit with a doctor and his patient, they ask their patients about their diet and how they need to add exercise, or modify their diets. Do you know after every holiday, I'm busier at work because of the way people eat during the holidays? Too much sodium and preservatives and not enough movement.
With the convenience of technology, it's all too easy to succumb to a sedentary lifestyle. However, we must resist this temptation. Find ways to incorporate movement into your daily routine, even while enjoying your favorite shows or movies. The key is to keep moving and stay active, despite the allure of the couch.
At work, I started a squats routine for those who sit near me. Every hour for 20 seconds, we do squats together. I also use a resistance band, so I do leg exercises whenever I'm sitting. And I use my swivel chair in a certain way to work on my oblique muscles. I also make it a point to walk the halls of our office every couple of hours.
Please use this post as food for thought, find ways to be more healthy, and create a lifestyle that will allow you to live a longer life. Let's beat the enemy in his own game.
