Legacy

We had the beautiful honor of celebrating my dad's 90th birthday this past weekend. It's one of those milestones that not everyone gets to celebrate, so I don't take it lightly that my dad is still healthy and living a blessed life with my mom and our family at this age.

During our dinner, family members shared their tribute to him through heartfelt messages, poems, a photo montage slideshow, and a rundown of 90 attributes of what we love about my dad. It was a sweet and sentimental moment for each of us as we reflected on how my dad impacted us in his unique way.

While enjoying everyone's thoughtfulness, I couldn't stop thinking about the legacy he has created and will leave one day. His faith, as well as peace, has definitely been a banner over our family. He has spoken prayers that have guided and blessed us. I can't recall a time when someone asked him for prayer that he didn't stop what he was doing to pray for them. Without saying a word, his presence has influenced and shifted a room. He has made life-altering decisions throughout his life for future generations that he will never meet on this side of heaven. I could go on and on about how my dad has left an impression on those he met, but for those of us who have had the honor of having a relationship, he has given us an overflowing treasure chest of cherished memories. And I pray he will live many more healthy years so we can gain even more. I declare I will write another post in ten years about my dad when he turns 100 years young!☺

I hope to follow in my dad's footsteps and leave my own kind of legacy for future generations. We only have one life to live, so let's ensure it's worth it for the generations to come.

"A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children." ~Proverbs 13:22 (NKJV)
