I enjoy leaving for work well ahead of schedule. Although my commute isn't particularly lengthy, I cherish the quiet moments I carve out for myself before the demands of the day unfold. This early time is sacred for me, as I use it to prepare mentally and spiritually for whatever lies ahead. My morning routine typically starts with a heartfelt dialogue with God, where I share my thoughts and intentions for the day. I find this introspective time grounding and empowering. If I have a few extra minutes, I immerse myself in a podcast that piques my interest, allowing me to engage my mind and gain new perspectives while I enjoy the peaceful drive.

One sunny morning, as I navigated out of my neighborhood's familiar curves, the route I could drive with my eyes closed led me toward the main road. I had become adept at timing my departure just right; if I played my cards well, I could slip onto the main thoroughfare without a hitch, avoiding the frustration of waiting for a break in oncoming traffic.

However, this particular morning, luck was not on my side. As I approached the intersection, I figured the light at the crest of the hill was green, signaling a steady stream of vehicles barreling toward me. Scanning the road, I counted several cars moving in succession, followed by a few stragglers that seemed determined to keep the flow intact. Despite my eagerness, I found myself in a predicament: the gaps in traffic were too fleeting, and the oncoming cars were relentless, making it impossible for me to merge safely onto the main road.

As I sat patiently, a sharp honk from behind suddenly diverted my attention. Startled, I glanced in the rearview mirror to find a driver who impatiently urged me to move. Her expression was a mix of impatience and disbelief that I hadn't already gone. The sound of the horn echoed in my ear, and I couldn't help but feel a twinge of irritation.

While waiting, I realized that my vantage point from the driver's seat allowed me to perceive the incoming traffic from a broader perspective. I could see the cars approaching from the hill, their headlights reflecting the road, while she, in her position, was blind to the chaos just beyond her line of sight. I understood that while she felt the moment's urgency, she lacked the complete picture I had. This awareness brought a new sense of patience over me as I continued to wait for the right moment to merge safely into the traffic flow.

In God's flawless timing, the incident mirrored my relationship with God. He possesses an unparalleled vantage point that offers Him a clear view of my life's path—far beyond my limited perspective. God safeguards me from unseen perils, gently steering me away from potential threats I may not recognize. His omniscience encompasses every detail, every twist and turn in my journey, and it only benefits me to have unwavering trust in Him. Through faith, I have to embrace the understanding that even in moments of uncertainty, I am cradled in His care, following a path known only to Him.

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

~ Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
