Pinch Me

Happy 2025!  I hope your new year is starting off strong.

Thank you, everyone, for praying for us.  We returned from our short-term mission trip to Korea less than a week ago and are trying to get our bearings.  I'm still fighting cold symptoms, body aches, and weird sleeping patterns, but I wouldn't change it for the world.  Even though this is our second mission trip to Korea, it feels like a once in a lifetime adventure.

"This is a pinch me moment" was a common phrase I said throughout the trip.  Every other night, my husband and I debriefed about what had happened thus far, and we could not help but notice the Lord's handprints.  From the beginning of our trip, with the ease of airline check-ins, TSA security, and customs, we never had any lines or issues.  Even the security officer commented we were lucky as it was unusual not to have long lines wrapped around.  And thankfully, the airline waived our overweight bag fees going to Korea and returning. ☺  Thank you, Jesus.

Throughout the trip, My husband and I tried to take in every moment as we walked around Seoul.  The hustle and bustle of life moved on like clockwork.  It was like walking in New York City but with people who looked most like us.  I people watched and wondered what their home lives were like.  I couldn't stop staring at the elderly, who had the energy of a 60 year old.  They had places to go and people to see, and they did not look like they would let anyone stop them.  I compared their energy to those of the teens we noticed at coffee shops, either falling asleep or busy on the phone, who didn't seem to care if anyone stopped them.  ☺

As we journeyed from one destination to the next, we were filled with a sense of wonder and curiosity. We had the chance to observe a few landmarks, and I found myself pondering the rich history that must have originated from those places.  I made sure to take notes on my phone, eager to delve deeper into what I had seen when I returned home.

The biggest "pinch me moments" happened when we attended the Again 1907 Pyong Yang conference.  I'll share more in future posts, but God gave me so many sweet moments as we reconnected with acquaintances from last year and met new ones from this year.  I could never have imagined the relationships we're building.  I hope we continue strengthening the bonds and growing our friendship despite the language and cultural barriers.

I'm filled with anticipation to share more about our journey in future posts. I want to thank you once again for your unwavering support. Your prayers were a crucial part of our successful trip.  We're also deeply grateful to our family, who lovingly cared for our kids while we were away.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Stay tuned...
